I did some research, actually a lot of research, on finding the right dog for my family (2 kids, ages 5 and 10). It always came back to a lab. There are many variations because this is such a popular breed. I wound up getting an English Lab as they are typically bred for temperment and are not hyper. Although my dog has plenty of energy, she can turn it off when indoors. My puppy (8 months) is "fox red" (I'll post a picture soon) and turned out to be the joy of our lives. She is about 60 pounds and still growing but she is short and stocky. I think any weight that she continues to gain will be to "fill out." I've seen so many sizes of this breed that it is hard to guage how big they can get.

My one piece of advice is to crate train your pup. You will be glad that you did, especially when you leave your house for a long period of time. Also, try to get a crate that can adjust as she grows so that you can make it small enough for her so that she won't soil her "den." Good luck!!!!
