Long story short - I've learned in the past 7 months that I love boarding greyhounds and hate running my own business! Fortunately I was able to get a job with my hubby's company that allows me to still work from home! Sooooooooo our long time dream of having a 'Greyhound Retirement Facility' has come true! We now donate the kennel building and cost of running it, as well as our labor to care for the greys. The dogs will come to our kennel (we can hold 20) in from the track and matriculate through our group's foster homes until they are adopted. Some adoptions straight from the kennel will be done on a case-by-case basis.
One of the tracks in Florida is closing for the season, and our group was able to increase the load from 5 dogs (the number of foster homes available) to 14!! The overflow is here at the kennel
For my 31st birthday, I made the trip to Florida to pick up the new puppers...But first on Saturday, we stopped in at a lure coursing event! It was sooooooooooooo much fun! I learned TONS so I'll be ready to course Echo and Melody next year!
Here's one of my friend's greys Whiz getting ready to chase the bunny!
A stunning saluki patiently waits her turn...
Sunday we picked the retirees up from the track...Yep, we got fourteen puppers in here!
The pups say goodbye to the adoption kennel volunteer as she double checks her list!
Colby Joe tried so hard to NOT lay down!
