Family Says Dog Died After Eating Recalled Pet Food
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration believes 100 dogs nationwide have died after eating tainted food.
Now, the death of an animal in Indiana County appears to be the first fatal case in western Pennsylvania connected to the bad dog food.
Diamond Pet Foods pulled several of its products from stores due to the discovery of aflatoxin, a chemical byproduct that attacks the liver.
Tammy Buggey, of White Township, said that she fed Diamond Premium Adult Dog Food to her 3-year-old beagle, which died last week.
Eighteen kinds of pet food under three brand names -- Diamond, Country Value and Professional -- have been recalled.
The full list of recalls and symptoms to look for is posted at diamondpetrecall.net.
