Sometimes the laws of nature just don't seem to apply. I watched a show on Animal Planet a while back, it was about a lioness that had been exiled from her pack and she had adopted a baby gazelle. The baby eventually died of starvation so she adopted another one. She never hurt them, even guarded them to the best of her ability but sadly they were still dependent on their mother's milk. The second baby was eventually killed by another lion. It was a really poignantly sad show. You felt both bad for the gazelle and the lioness.
