Home remedies for swollen eyes? Due to allergies

Missie's eyes have looked bad for several days now. When we saw the vet he noticed her eyes but didn't give me anything to do for them. Yesterday one of her eyes was swollen as well as red, and this morning it's swollen worse. Last night I took a washcloth with cool water and held it over each of her eyes to see if that would help the swelling, and she seemed to enjoy it (though it didn't help much).

The vet is closed today and I need to save funds for her appointment with our regular vet to talk about her allergies. That appointment is later this week (I'll reschedule it to coincide with when her test results come back). And today is a holiday so I can't call and ask for their advice.

Anything I can do to soothe her now? We tried a spray humectant (on her body) yesterday that the vet gave me, and it's had no effect whatsoever. I'm feeling pretty useless trying to help her.
