What is the deal here?

So my boys were outside playing yesterday afternoon, they had been out for longer then normal and no one was at the back door wanting in so I decided to check things out.....
I look out the kitchen window and see the back of a little black and white dog and I thought"What is Lexie doing out side, I would have sworn she was on the couch" So, I go look...sure enough she was out cold on the couch. "WHAT THE HECK?" So I look again...this in INSIDE my back yard mind you. I see a small black and white dog
with HUGE ears hiding under my patio furniture and my boys are trying desperately to play with the little dog.
I go outside to investigate and this little guy comes right to me. He looks a bit like a Gremlin. I scoop him up and inside we go to call animal control and find out if any one has reported him missing...nope. Not yet any way. Today we will run an add in the paper to see if any one claims him that way. If not I will contact the small breed rescue here in town and we are not set up yet and wont be for quite some time. It was a good thing he ended up in the yard because it rained buckets last night and he would have been soaked to the bone.
We think he is maybe Chi and Doxie or Rat and Doxie, he is about 12lbs or so and very long bodied.

Here he is, we are calling him Mighty Mouse.....don't know why but it seemed to fit him.
