The reason the threads on the first page are answered is because when someone posts on a thread it immediately gets pushed to the front. People do look at the other pages of threads, they just don't always post in every thread.
Most people only post if they really have something to say so that means if they can't answer something or don't have a comment they just leave the thread alone and it sometimes drifts back down the list.
