Well, I'm glad they changed the name of that place if the indigenous people were offended.
If I am not personally offended by a phrase or action, it is not for me to determine if it should continue. Only the voice of those who are insulted have any validity, IMO.
Now, I agree with D.S (above) with not forgetting the sins of the past so that we don't repeat them. That is different from getting rid of constant reminders in the form of slogans, phrases, signs, etc.
We had a sign up in a couple of towns in Colorado like "N-, Don't let the sun go down on your A-". That meant that all Black people had to be out of that town before dark. Should we leave up that sign to preserve history? I think not! Take a picture of it and put the picture in a museum along with all of the lynching pictures!
I say, if it offends, stop doing it and get over it. If we don't change, we won't improve.
