Unhappy Ike is in emergency surgery

Well, when I had come home from the gym today and after Steven had left for work, I was laying in bed. Ike came up behind me, and wanted to come up. I let him up, and next thing I knew he starts heaving. I try to rush him out of my room (hopefully outside) before he threw up, and he made it just out of the hallway. Bile... okay, probably because they had not eaten breakfast today cause we had to go out and get another bag of food.

So I let him outside to relieve himself a little better. I go out to let him back inside, and he really doesn't want to come in -- which is odd. So he finally does.

When my dad came home, he called me out and said Ike was acting like something on his rear end was bothering him. As time went on, he started rolling over onto his side and back, and litterally screaming. Then he'd go a bit without doing anything. But he was constantly pacing and panting.

My dad couldn't stand it any longer, so we rushed him to the E-vet. My brother had to apply for the care credit, just in case, but he said it wouldn't be any different than if it were his credit card.

So, they took him back to do X-rays. If nothing showed they would do blood work.

She comes out with the Xrays, only to show us he has an obstruction. What is it? A rib bone. My family and I had gone out to eat Sunday at Ruby Tuesdays, and my parents wanted to bring the rib bones home. Well, I really didn't want to give them the bones in the first place. Only because with all of the research I have done, I don't want to give cooked bones anymore. Something inside of me just had this feeling. I honestly cannot explain it, but I really did not want to. They insisted and insisted I give them their treat. Well, looks like I should have stood my ground.

So, to any of you who feed your leftover rib bones (or any cooked bones) to your dogs. Please don't. I've now had to learn the lesson a hard way. $3000 later, my brother is nearly in debt and we made Ike extremely sick.

Just be very very careful guys with any type of treat, bone, or food item you give to them. Anything can happen, and at such unexpected moments.

Please keep Ike in your thoughts that all goes well, and that he heals quickly. I will be picking him up in the morning.
