Could there be a possibility that maybe they did not lose the dog but sold it insted?

I know thats an awful thing to think... but you never know with people now days. if you seach the woods and nothing turns up and nobody has seen anything this my be your alternative. Does she has a chip or tattoo? If she does alert all the vets and shelters in the surronding areas and the next towns over. You never know she may have been sold.

I am sure if she truly did escape (as we do not know details) they probably feel awful, but they must of been keeping a lousey eye on her not to be able to retrieve her. I do in house dog sitting myself and I do not use seperate kennel rooms, but they have there own crate for night time. I take no more then two dogs and owners must sign a consent saying they are dog friendly and if anything happens, accident, injury or otherwise (goes into way more detail) they cannot hold me responsible and will incure all costs. I do not leave my dogs outside un-supervised and I have an indoor play room for them, not to mention they have freerome of PART of the house as the other ends are gated off. If the lady had her sign a contract she will have a hard time suing. But if she sold the dog, thats a different stroy....

I hope your friend finds her
