Sadly, I've found this is true. I LOVE big, black dogs (Blackie, for instance). I think they are majestic and beautiful. And yet Blackie, even with his loving, awesome temperment, is passed over when out with Rose. Rose will be slinking back to hide behind me giving off very obvious signals that she doesn't want to be pet and Blackie will be wagging his tail with a big goofy grin on his face, but people are more inclined to ask to pet Rose than Blackie.

I think the build (and breed) of a dog also has soemthing to do with it. I helped my friend walk Sasha (that Pittie pup who may be expecting) and her white GSD Shadow. I had Sasha and you cannot believe the looks I was getting. They over looked Shadow who was big and white (and barking at everyone), but heaven forbid I had a small, strong, brindle Pittie with a prong collar on.
