Oh, I'm so glad most everyone is in the same prediciment as I with this. Lucky dog, you really made this thread a difficult one. LOL. I'm like Crossfire. There were so many good dogs in my past and present that it's really hard to say. I loved them all and I loved various particular traits of their breed.
I almost could say (but perhaps that's because this is now and fresh in my mind) that I am particularly wild about my Doberman. It's not that I love him more, but that I am loving this breed and it's traits along with Lyric's individual personality. He's extremely entertaining, full of character, highly intelligent and ready to learn. He's actually not as stubborn as my GSD was and Dobes are often thought of that way. I love his dependence and attachment to me. And at the same time, his ability to be an independent thinker. He's quite possibly the most affectionate dog I've had, save the Chihuahuas. All my dogs were very affectionate, but the Dobe and the Chi's are not as independent as the Lab and GSD were. These guys are similar in their velcroness. LOL. They are just sooooooo into their owner. But that is a good deal due to their breeding....the job they were bred to do. The Chi's are cute as can be and great lap dogs. The Doberman is not only a loyal, loving and willing partner, but he also makes me feel safe....such a good protector too. He just protected me the other day, 3rd time.
Some strange men came walking up my long driveway (normally people don't walk up. They drive....kind of new for Lyric) and Lyric intercepted them, barking viciously, but standing back. When I went toward them to speak to them, Lyric went around, in front of me and stood all flexed just watching them. He had stopped growling/barking. He just stood there watching. Then after a moment of my speaking in a friendly way to them, he went and sniffed them, gave a half hearted wag of his tail and came back and sat next to me. These guys were interested in the property next to me which is for sale....Anyway, this dog thinks. He doesn't jump the gun....am lovin' this dog. LOL
So, it's nearly impossible to choose favorites.
