I was sitting at a park with him at night because i was waiting for my friend to finish his visit at his aunt apartment.
I guess some people think its ok to take their dog out with out a leash at night, but I think if they know their dog doesn't get a long with other dogs, they should keep it on a leash regardless of the time of day.
I had Simba on a Retractable leash so i was watching him explore the area he was in. I noticed someone walking his pitbull not to far from the area Simba and I were sitting. I couldn't tell if it was on a leash because it seemed to walk close to its owner. Because Simba is such a good boy, even though he was on a leash, he always runs back to me when he thinks i'm too far away. I think it was when Simba was running back to me that the pitbull noticed him. When I saw the pit bull running toward simba, I realized it wasn't on a leash, so i got up to get simba. Luckily enough the pitbull had a muzzle on, but it was still able to paw my baby.(He had no injuries, he was just shaken up by the experience) It didn't seem to care that i was holding my puppy, even when the own had it by the harness it was still trying to lundge at my pup.

It felt like the dog couldn't see me or its owner, just Simba.
I started yelling at the owner about how his dog should be on a leash, and his excuse was that he never incountered other dogs in that park that late at night. I was so scared that Simba wouldn't trust other dogs after that, but i introduced him to my cousin's dog a couple of days after. Simba seemed to do very well with playing with the other dog. Simba also met two Jack Russels the next day and got along with them too, so i'm very glad Simba is still ok with other dogs.
I have no grudges against pitbulls at all, its just owners know how their dogs react to other dogs. If they didnt socialize it enough, then they should know a lot better then to let it go out without a leash.
