CBS new reports there is an effort to find new homes for pit bulls that are currently in animal shelters in the Bay Area.
A spokesperson for the East BAy SPCA stated they are using euthanaisa as a means of controlling the many pit bulls that are in the shelter. Together, the SPCA and BAD RAP-- Bay Area Dog Lovers Responsible About Pit Bulls have created-- "Pit Bull Hall". Pit bulls in the shelter are assessed for good temperament. People wanting to adopt a pit bull are also screened. Handlers admit pit bulls can be a challenge. Although human aggression is a reason for euthanasia, dog aggression is not. Both the East Bay SPCA and BAD RAP warn folks to not get a pit bull from a backyard breeder. For the full story:
