Since you and "that person" obviously share the same mindset, I'll be speaking to you directly, since "that person" isn't posting here. You two seem to have forgotten or smudged two very different subjects:

Instinct VS. Intelligence

When "that person" claims that show BCs are of lower intelligence because they don't know how to "sweep gracefully around the sheep"...Well, wouldn't you say that that is INSTINCT? You cannot judge a dog stupid or intelligent based on instinct, or lack thereof.

Yes, you and "that person" are correct. Some show BCs and similar breeds have lost quite a bit of herding instinct, but you cannot deny that they have intelligence. In my earlier post, I mentioned that one can not even define the meaning of intelligence!

Would you call the Cro Magnons of 40,000 years late unintelligent? They managed to stay alive in a hostile world and created complex societies. Yet, they couldn't possibly have the brainpower that we possess in this day and time. At any rate, I think you shouldn't let your own bias against show BCs hinder your thinking. Intelligence is not something that can be gained or loss through breeding. Simple as that.
