For over 40 years I cooked big meals every day from scratch and made all my own bread, pies, cakes, cookies, candies and I always had large gardens and would make jelly, pickles, pickled eggs and beets and canned lots of fruit and veggies. I also froze quite a bit. I raised 6 sons this way and tought them to cook too. It all went to the way-side. My boys have such hectic lives and eat out almost exclusively. Now it's just me and my husband at home and I'm still trying to cook for two instead of 8, but haven't mastered it yet. We have been eating out more, the boys don't come here too often so cooking is down to a bare minimum and I "bought" a bread-maker. Yes, it's a shame the old fashion way of cooking is almost forgotten, because it's a million times more tasty.
