The animals are always excellently behaved, well-socialized, friendly, and outgoing. What gives? Again, I look at who owns them and who breeds them. People that love and understand their breed, don't take its power for granted, educate the public, and are the first to stand on the front lines of bsl.

i imagine it's the same in the UKC ring with american pit bull terriers. it's all about who owns them and how they are owned, the time put into them, and how they are taught to behave.
look at akitas- they have "dog aggressive" written right into the breed standard but they are not so popular with idiots and people lacking in the gonads department so they don't cause nearly the problems or the media circle.
i love my dogs to death. they are no threat to anyone. i would never allow them to be.
it always baffles me when people say the breed should not be banned but there should be strict rules about who can own them. i mean, come on. byb-ers are going to sell their unsound, unsafe dogs to whoever has the cash to lay down. animal control officers can't even keep up with the laws already in place. and who is going to define "pit bull" anyway?
luce is a little red-nosed dog from the shelter but she has a piece of paper from the akc saying that she is allowed to compete in their dog sports as an american staffordshire terrier? so what does that make her? i mean, other than just another good pet dog.
