Chat is no longer available

I upgraded the Flash Chat software today after hearing reports of members being kicked out, but I was also investigation the forum lag that was occurring to some members and notice that the Flash Chat software was being used to hack my (our) server.

I investigated more closely and decided it is not worth the risk of using this software anymore so I have removed it from the server.

We still want GlobalPaw to use a chat feature and I am looking into better scripts that are more secure to malicious use.

Sorry. If anyone knows of a chat system they enjoy using let me know. I will be happy to see if it can be integrated into the forum.

Thanks laser,

But that software is for a windows server, Globalpaw is run on a Linux server. I am actually looking at buying something more robust and avoiding the free stuff. The free software is usually the first to be hacked and we would rather have something with more support if need be.

Oh no laser, I hope you didn't take offense I really did appreciate the suggestion. I should have been more clear in what I was looking for in a chat software. Sorry.

Why would someone try to hack a chat room?

I would try blocking the IP address of the hacker if possible. It would be idea to switch to different chat software like you said.

No offense taken here... I should have asked what you are using before I barked up a tree here. tail wag....I know I should have asked what you are looking for indeed we have most all windows here locked on port 82 and others just for secure reasons...... As you know 80 is the World... Thnak you for the note again I am sorry and one should be asked. If you need help let me know????????? OK Global PAWS I have a chat area set up on my server until we get one back Here OK....!!!!!!!!!!!

I have not gotten any word on their caht room refit they are looking for a ne program to use here an I am offerin my System for now Free an it is limited only by bandwidth... So use it it is better than nothing at all? Laser
