Dog has phobia to flying insects?

Hi all,
My frind has a five year old, speyed, rescued minature poodle. She is a wonderful housedog being exceptionally obedient, very clean and friendly. However she seems to exhibit panic attacks; running round in circles, cowering in a dark corner, and generally trying to escape whenever a flying insect (about the size of a large fly) enters the room.

My friend wants to know why she may act this way towards insects, and do you think she can be cured of this phobia?

Your thoughts and ideas would be appreciated.

Has she ever been stung by a bee in the past? What does your friend do when the dog starts "acting scared?"

If you find a cure , let me know...

a friend of mine has a Briard, he has a phobia of flying insects....not just big ones.

she sprays him with insectrepellent and tryes to keep him moving while outside. she tried homeopathic things, but nothing seems to really help.

He didn't get stung ...
mrsgrubby asks a very good question... how is the reaction of the owner?

eventhough Piccolo has a hard time with flying insects he does not get histerical or overreactive...
