Sleeping at the bottom of my bed?
This might sound like a stupid question, but I am wondering why a lot of times Sophie will start off at the bottom of my bed, curling up around my feet, when we go to bed, but a lot of times I will wake up and she is spooning me
or closer to my head, which is adorable and I could care less. Just wondering if this is a "pack mentality" thing with sleeping order, etc.? I absolutely don't have any dominance issues with her whatsoever, but occasionally a slight bit of stubborness... |

Hmm it's not a pack mentality thing that I know of....I think they're like us, they move when they sleep.
Mine are never in the same place in the morning as they were when they went to bed. Sometimes they move a little, sometimes alot. Sometimes its from the foot of the bed to the head, sometimes from one side of me to the other. But I think that having to be touching their owner is a pack thing. |

Maybe she gets cold during the night so gets right up next to you - I know River will often come up to the head of the bed and wake me up so I can lift the covers up and he'll go and sleep on my feet under the blanket instead of on top of them. Hmmm - I think that little one has trained me well

I think its fine. My springer, Simetra, sleeps curled up around my feet and my other springer, A.j., sleeps on his back next to me, or sometimes he will lay over my belly, forming a cross with me. When my Mutt, Sophie, comes in to sleep on my bed with us (rarely), she will sleep right on my pillow (a long body pillow), so i use her as a pillow.
Before i got the springers, Wiener, my Dachshund, would come in and sleep next to me, under the covers. All these different dog sleeping positions, and ive never had a problem with them, so i think your safe with your dog. ![]() |

that is funny how we all sleep with our dogs. i love to cuddle & spoon with lucy (my husband is like what about me!) lol... its so cute how attached you get to your dogs & they to you. she does start in her kennel at night though & then we bring her in whoever gets up first in the am so she doesnt hav the whole bed....

My cat does this also. I think they just want to snuggle- to be close and warm and feel your heartbeat. During the summer he's at the food of the bed and doesn't away from us

Dogs don't just go to sleep and stay that way all night. They sleep for awhile, wake up, find another position, sleep and so on. It could be that you were making some sort of noise while sleeping and she was just checking it out, and maybe she thought something was wrong with you so she decided to wake you up. "ya just never know".

hehehe.. Mazie wanders in her sleep as well.. she'll start out at the foot of the bed and slowly work her way up.. Soon, I'll wake up to find one of the pillows from my Pile-o-Pillows™ shifted slightly off the stack and her head on it.. Sheesh... she thinks she's human and Trucker thinks she's a dog....
