Hi everyone,
My parents have a 5 year old CKCS called Holly and lately she has been urinating on the bathroom carpet, which we can't understand why? She gets walked during the day and she goes to the toilet and if she want the toilet at night she'll wake myself or my mum to let her out. My mum let her out this morning and she did nothing and later that morning 8.30 am i found a wet puddle on the bathroom floor. I have been thinking of contacting the vet but i we waited just in-case that it was a phase (this has only happend 3 times). She was potty trained when she was a puppy and she was ok, so we can't understand why she's doing this. Can anyone shed some light on the problem, please? Thanks, destructive dobe |

Clean the spot with an enzyme based cleaner so the dog doesn't still smell the spot where she urinated before. You need to take her to a vet to rule out any medical reason for her to suddenly start this before you treat it as a behavior problem.
PS...did you remember your password? |

Hi,
We have cleaned the spot, so it doesn't smell. I have been thinking of taking her to the vets because at 5 years old i can't understand why? she's urinating on the carpet. I just thought that if anyone else has had a similar experinece before i consulted the vet. I had forgotten my password so i had to have it changed lol, very typical of me to forget lol ![]() |

Could she be urinating because she's unhappy about something or jelous of other pets, we do have 2 other cats but she does get equal attention. She is house trained, she was when she was a puppy so im quite sure it isn't that other than that she must be lazy lol

She has done it a few times (maybe 3... i think) i have been thinking of taking her to the Vet to have her checked over. Not really, except for the new cat, but he's been with us for quite a few months.

Nope it's denfinately the dog that's peed on the carpet, the cats have a litter box area in the house that they can use anytime.
She doesn't pee in on the bathroom rug often but it's every now and then every month or possibly 2. It's just annoying at the fact that we let her out and she did nothing came back in and ended up peeing when we were asleep. We have gone to shutting the bathroom door, but every once in a while we forget to do it before going to bed and obviously she take the opportunity to be naughty. |

i would take her to the vet and have her checked for a urinary tract infection. that way you will know flat out if it's a physical problem. if she has a UTI, she may well not be able to help it.

Has she been desexed? sometimes the change in hormones can cause this to happen as they get older.
I would have her urine tested by a vet first though. If she was well trained before then there certainly has to be a valid reason for her behaviour. If its hormonal you csn try giving her soy milk it is hi in estrogen. hope it all works out Linnie |

She has been de-sexed, we have decided that were going to be taking her to the vets on Mondy (which is tomorrow) along with our young cat who seems to be limping quite badly, the vet bills lately seem to be sky-rocketing up their costing an arm and a leg but their worth it
