Arrow Suggestions/Tips (feeding 2)

Hello all, I need feeding Suggestions/Tips about how to feed 2 dogs at the same time. How to do this so both get all of their food and when is the best time of the day/night to feed your pups? How many hours apart? How many times to feed in a day.

My Weimi seems hungry all the time. My Schnauzer can be finicky. I have been feeding them twice a day.

I haven't bought a really good brand yet. That is so confusing but right now I just need the feeding 2 tips.

when i had to move back home with my parents a few months ago, i thought this would be a problem. trixie gets puppy food and shelby gets senior, so they needed to have their own food. but we had it down in about a week. i started by feeding them at opposite ends of the room, and with each feeding, i'd move their bowls a little closer. by the end of a week they were eating side by side. what REALLY helps is if your dogs know to sit and wait for their food and don't just dig right in. this way you can get everything situated while their just sitting there nicely. now they've got it down to a science and no one eats until i say so and they only eat their food (trixie will sometimes steal the cat food, but not too much anymore. All four animals eat together now...2 cats and 2 dogs eating side by side...its quite cute . i did an experiment the other morning and switch shelby and trixies spots...they were so confused because it wasn't their own food infront of them.

I feed Chloe (13wks old) three times a day. When she hits about five months, I'll feed her twice a day. I think it is better for younger puppies to have more frequent meals. She eats when we get up at around 8:30, then her lunch at noon, and her supper is around 6:00.

If your Weim is eating your Schnauzer's food, it would probably be best to seperate them when feeding them. Maybe put them in their crates or something. When your Weim is done inhaling her food, you can let her out, but if your Schnauzer is still eating, keep the Schnauzer in her crate until she is done. (Or until she looses interest in her food and stops eating, as you said she was finicky). If she learns that she only gets food at a certain times of the day and if she doesn't eat it all it will go away, she may stop being finicky all together.

The only dogs I've ever fed together have been Blackie and Rose (they eat once a day), but since they are both eating the same brand/type and the same amount, it has never been a problem. Blackie will eat some of Rose's food when he's done with his, but since he is bigger than Rose, they've maintained a good weight either way.

Thanks those are good tips!! My Schnauzer Tillie knows to sit and wait. And I am working on Windy.

OK these are good tips too! I think I will try the crate feeding and see how that will work. Also I will go to three times a day. One full day divided into 3 meals. They are both under five months.

I was going to suggest crate feeding... It's a must here with the 7 crazies.
Also, Windy should be on three meals a day for a few months yet.

My rules are there are no set feeding times. Dogs are very habituated, just like us people, and for a variety of reasons I do not want a dog dying for me to feed them at an exact time. So... I feed in the AM (between 6am - 9am) in the afternoon, for a puppy (11 am - 2pm) and in the PM (4pm - 8pm).
