Eyes = Mirror to the soul

When is it that they are jumping on you? When you come home, or just at random times (when they get hyped up, or you talk to them, etc)?
What do you use the command "off" for? What you can try doing is if it's when you walk in/come home the minute you see they are going to jump on you, turn your back. Don't make eye contact, don't talk to them, just stand there quietly. If they go to come around the other side, turn your back to them that way. They should start to understand the message (not overnight of course), that when they jump onto you, you turn your back and pay no attention to them. Depending on if it is another time, I'd be willing to offer suggestions. I know some dogs have a tendency to jump if you get them super happy (with high pitched baby talk), or if you even just simply look at them. |

LOL Icey it is all the above....and all the time. I want my pups to be happy to see me...of course...as I am happyto see them and to give pets and like I said OFF works but only for the moment. So I'll try the turning your back. Still Tillie will jump even when not looking at her....she is soooooooo spastic. In a good way!!!

I train my dogs to not jump on me unless I give them permission. It's not all that difficult. Teach them to sit when you get home, then release them and play and if you want them on you, you permit it, rather than allowing the dog to make the choice. DFrost |

Ah, I see.
lolWell, as DFrost suggested, having them sit when you come in, or at any other time they begin to jump is another thing I would try. Once they are sitting, I'd give them lots of praise/treats. The minute they jumped up onto me, I'd say "Ah-Ah" and put them back into a sit. You can attach a leash to practice, this way you have control over either one of them. Once they go to jump, keep the leash so they cannot make a full jump. Instruct them to sit. I would not make a big fuss over them when I came home, or when they started to jump. When you come in, ignore them for a few minutes. Put your keys/purse down, check the mail, get a drink, THEN say hello to them. I understand you wanting them to be happy to see you, but they can be just as happy while sitting Trust me, when your weimie gets bigger, you won't be as happy to have her jump all over you. LOL I only have two of my 5 that have dificulty at times with jumping onto people, or on me when I come home. I tell them "No, stay down" with my palm facing them and they stay. However, if I don't instruct them, they jump at their own free will. Hahaha, but we're working on it. |

to start off you can also try the "Helen Keller method"
everyone knows Helen Keller was blind and had a pitbull that she raised from puppyhood. The way she taught him not to jump up on people was when the puppy jumped up she would turn around say no and place his paws on the floor and say "No jumping" |

Hi Roman no I didn't know she had a pit. Thanks for the help.
I have since my post, started the turn around rule. Also I have started a more keen eye and a quick NO when It looks like they may want to jump on me. I must say that is working. |

Good to hear
Something I forgot to add is if they do jump, and you can hear/see their paws hit the floor, praise them. Reward them for staying down. |
