Angry Riley and Cricket

WILL NOT stop walking there butts up here and pooping on my carpet. It makes me soo mad and I think they know it. Im not sure which one it is, but I think it ia Cricket. I feel like going downstairs and throwing her out the door. She had just came inside and about 15 minutes later she has to walk all the way upstairs to poop on my carpet. This is the 2nd time and it is really bothering me. Any suggestions. Please dont say shut your door because people come in and out of my room while im gone. So I cant just keep it shut. And sometimes I forget.

Well... why don't you just shut your door?

I guess you'll have to go back to the puppy basics of potty training. If you can't watch the dogs all the time and catch them in the act, crate them when you can't watch them....there's nothing you can do. Someone will have to start taking them outside and doing the big reward thing when they go outside. Other than that, I don't know...unless it's some medical reason. (?)

Hope you can remedy this. Good luck.

Yes. We realy need a crate. Badly. I think that would be the best thing other than the suhtr my door thing. But even if we do that, they still poop somewhere.

Carrie's right, just go back and train her as if she's never been potty trained in her life.

Cheers!

Also, if it is just her pooping in your room that is the problem, and she wouldn't poop anywhere else, maybe you could get a walk-through gate? We have one for when we watch Mattie (an adorable GR puppy) it is works. lol
But......a crate and housetrianing agian would also be good. lol

How do dogs usually handle sudden crate training when they've been used to running free during the day? I realize that at the shelter they are caged, but after 4 months in a cage, then a few weeks to run free, would sticking a dog back in a cage be traumatic?

I don't believe so. They may whine a bit, as the situation is different and they'll need time to adjust, but I don't think it's going to harm the dog mentally. Just start for short periods of time, and make the times longer and longer. Kinda like reverse for when people want to leave the dog OUT of the crate. Be sure to give him/her a nice toy or treat while in the crate to keep them busy...
