the "defiant "poop

let me start by saying that b.b. is sooo spoiled. my husband works nights , so there is always some one at home to give tons of puppy affection to him. well, today my husband had some stuff to do and didn't want him under foot so he left him in the bed to nap. well he lost track of the time and left him there a bit long and darling b.b.( who is completely house trained to his weewee pad.)(yes..gross we use weewee pads..its so darn cold here, and call me discusting, but i don't mind!) left a little surprise in the bed!! i swear he did it on purpose ! he goes like clockwork and on the rare times we don't get him to his weewee pad he just holds it. what do you all think? am i giving him too much credit?

dogs don't "defiantly" poop. their brains just don't work that way. he had to go. he was not given the option of relieving himself appropriately, so he just went where he was. simple as that. when you gotta go you gotta go.

i have a story that seems otherwise! when i was a kid we had a super smart poodle who loved my mom to the end of the earth! they were never apart for years and years, until one year she took a long awaited trip to england to visit distant relatives. she was gone 2 weeks and we all waited anxiously to see the dogs reaction when she returned. wags of joy?? lots of poodle kisses?? nope.she looked at my mom..pooped on the living room floor( in plain sight of everyone) and left the room. this dog was practically house trained from day one!! never ever had an accident.

I do believe at times dogs will do things when they are annoyed. But with housetraining (at least for my girls) they don't do anything bad even if they may be annoyed at me for some reason. My Lab baby sleeps in a crate. Every night before bed we let her out. If she needs to go in the middle of the night though, she will bark until we come down and let her out. The last thing she will do is do it in her crate.

dogs dont act out of spite. they feel frustration, confusion, stress, etc, and they cannot control their bodily functions sometimes.

look at it this way - you are a housebroken animal and your owner comes home after a long time away. you are so excited you poop. you KNOW you shouldnt do it from training, so to avoid being punished, you leave the room.

Yup people are right, dogs don't work that way like people do. A lot of the time it does seem that way because of what they do but that's just us humanizing them.

Some people say that their dog got pissed off and peed on the floor after they scolded them for chewing on the table legs (just an example) but that isn't true, the dog was just submissing to their owner because they could tell Alpha mum/dad wasn't happy and they didn't want to challenge authority.

Cheers!
