dog pee's when excited

Is this normal for a puppy or is there something wrong, the vet said it is a puppy thing and more common in small dogs and females but it doesn't seem common that I cant play with her or have her go near new people without he peeing, she is an almost 6 months old pug/bulldog

It can be common in puppies - River used to do the same thing but only when my sister came over cos she used to stir him up so much

We managed to get him to stop this by keeping everything greetings low key and getting her to ignore him for the first few minutes she came into the house - that why he didn't think the sole purpose of her visit was to play with him. Once she ignored him for a bit she just quietly said hello to him then we took him outside straight away to go to the toilet and after that they were allowed to play. It solved our problem really quickly!

If she does it when you're playing with her maybe try playing with her for a bit and then taking her outside to go to the toilet when you can tell she's getting a little over excited.

I hope this helps and can we have some more pics of your beautiful girl please??

I apologise for not being able to help solve the problem, but I just wanted to reassure you that yes this is actually a relatively common problem in dogs (not always exclusive to puppies).

Someone will be along soon to help you with it though.

EDIT: LOL Rivsky posted same time as I did.

Cass.

I use to help with alot of rescues, and submissive urination was a common problem. The problem occurs because the pup is overly excited or worried what is expected of the them. First of all- take a trip the vet to rule out a urinary tract or bladder infection.
Having done that, now when you approach the pup, be more casual in your approach. When you first come home, just causally say hello but keep walking- put your stuff away- hang up your coat, uh glance at the mail, get a glass of water- walk past the pup in a casual relaxed walk etc. Then go outside. Do not make overatures towards the dog- just calm and casual .. keep your shoulders, body posture, normal stride in steps and use the ignore method. This 'ignore method' is casual calm glances at the pup, but relaxed. Go outside- again no wild welcome home anything.
Use this when introducting a friend into the home etc. Just tell them calm and casual and focusing on your, not the pup. .. YOu will notice rather shortly that the dog is not only not urinating but also calmer around people and more relaxed.
This should work and hope it helps..
