Hi
This is our first message. We have a 10 month old Boston Terrier named Jizabelle.
Since she was spayed a month ago, she has been aggressively humping Len's legs. We understand why she's doing it. We are baffled by why she started, since she never did this before. Any thoughts? |

Well, first of all, who's Len? Is that another dog, your husband or son? LOL. I think Jizabelle has come into herself....she's come of age and she's trying to exert her role that she sees herself in.....top dog. So, if Len is a dog, no matter, unless you want her to stop. If it's a human, she should know she is not top dog. There are some things you can do to show her that you are head of the family. One idea is to do a search "Nothing in life is free dog training." That would be a good start.

I know this doesn't help....but my aussie humps a teddy bear. lol I'm sure people frown on it...but she's not hurting anyone by doing it! She's never tried it with people though. She and my jack russell (also female) do have power struggles when they try to "hump" each other...it never gets far...they growl a little and then find something else to do. It doesn't bother me that they do strange things to each other...they ARE dogs...though sometimes I forget! They never fight so I'm ok with how they handle their power struggles.

Bailey used to hump her teddy bear when she was a tiny baby. We just ignored her and she quit after a while. If we were lying on the ground she would try to hump our leg a tiny bit but we just got up and walked away. She quit all of that by the time she was 6 months old. So far Lucy hasn't tried any of that yet.
