Bulldog Bladder
I have a 2 year old English Bulldog. He house broke pretty easily but I am having problems with him peeing on my bed. Somedays its because we leave him home, but many times it is when we are sleeping right by him. We have done everthing except put him in his kennel. Any suggestions of a problem with the dog.

Is he peeing while lying on the bed or does he just get on the bed and pee? If he's urinating seemingly without noticing you're probably looking at a medical problem that needs to be addressed by a vet. Otherwise we probably need some more information (how often does it happen, is it the only place he pees in the house, what occurs before/after, how long has it been happening...?).
Welcome to GP, too! Glad to have you. |

How did you house break your bulldog puppy so easily. I've just gotten a bulldog puppy and his name is Marty. When he sleeps at night he doesn't have any accidents in his crate. I know most don't like crates, but we bought a new crate for him called a Port-A-Crate from PetsMart. He loves it and quiets down very well, but when he is awake we keep him in the bathroom until he is house broken; he then proceeds to pee and poop EVERYWHERE. Do you have any help? I'll research anything about your bulldog that i can find. Bulldogs i'm told take alot of care and are easily prone to diseases or psychological problems. i think it would be best if you took the dog to the vet and asked the same questions.

Yes with Daisy. Daisy was potty trained literally instantly since we got her. Our other dogs showed her the ways, and she picked them up in less then a week. However she still often at night, or if alone for long peroids typically over 5 hours she pees in her cage or my bed. Sometime it is actually alot less then 5 hours. The two times she peed in my bed I was right beside her on my computer. It looks like she does it in her sleep to me.

How old is Daisy? How big is her crate?
She may have potty trained instantly, but sometimes when they go through adolesence they rebel a bit and push the limits. If this seems to be a random behavior then it is time to take her back to Potty Training 101. However... that said... some females tend to pee very very often when they are coming into heat. If that applies to Daisy, I'm not sure. Also, now that she has just been spayed, you will need to give her some time to heal. She will want to pee very very often to clear out the anesthetic from her system and in general that are hurts a bit right now, the bladder may be even bruised from the procedure. |
