What is she doing with her food!?

Hi all,
My dog Lola nudges and pushes around her food bowl, to the point of almost tipping it over and pushing it into her water bowl, before she will eat it. This does not happen if her dog friend Charlie is present. Anyone know what the heck she is doing? Or thinks she is doing?
Thank you,
Shannon

She's doing this by instinct. When wild dogs are full or not hungry, they burry their food. She's just trying to find a safe spot for hers.

Awe, really? That's hilarious and so cute. I'll try to stop getting so annoyed by it! I guess she is just not a breakfast girl.

Niki does the same when she does not want to eat or if she has on her bowl dry kibble only. She will nudge and push her food bowl accross the room or even in another room; then, she will leave the bowl there and she will return to her sleeping spot without eating until I change what I have on her bowl to something she likes more -- she is spoiled and she rarely has kibble only in her bowl, so she refuses to eat it plain.

Yeah, sounds like she's just not hungry and wants to hide it for later. The reason she doesn't do it when her doggy friend is around is most likely an instinctual thing, like survival. Wild animals will fight over food to survive. Her instincts tell her to eat that food before Charlie so she'll "survive". Just like how her instincts tell her to hide it so no other animal finds it.
What kind of dog do you have? Looks like an akita in your pic, but hard to tell. I'm also in Canada!

When Ailchu was about four months old, he refused to eat his puppy kibble. The vet thought he might be teething or there might be a lack of "competition" for the food. However, since I've switched him over to the adult food, he's finished every single meal in less than five minutes! I think maybe it was just that the puppy kibble pieces were too small for him. Out of of curiosity, what do you feed your dog?

My newest Yorkie puppy is now 6 months old, but ever since we got her at 3 months I have seperated her from the other two when I feed them, but she won't eat untill I put one of the dogs back in the kitchen with her. It's just too cute! My little wild dogs. hahaha!

My palmeranian used to take one little kibble from his dish, carry it into the other room, set it down, and play with it for about 2 min. before he'd finally eat it. Then he'd go back for another single kibble, and do it again. He doesn't seem to do this much anymore, but we sure thought that was strange...

Hi Luna chick,
Lola is a white shepherd crossed with....? They say lab or husky. I say a bit of both. I got her from the SPCA as a puppy. She certainly looks similar to yours!

Hi Faol,
I feed Lola Go Natural or Evo... She seems to enjoy the food, but definitely not too into breakfast. She could probably be a once a day eater, but I prefer to feed her twice.

With some dogs I've given up on breakfast(dry kibble) and given them a giant milkbone\meaty bone instead and then a full tasty wet\dry meal that evening. They don't really seem to mind and I can't leave the food out all day while I'm gone so I don't have much of a choice.
