moving
ok so we finally got the ok to close on our house. Im super excited. But Im a little worried about Kino.
A)When he was a pup he chewed a cushion on my mother in laws couch. This was right after we bought the couch. He hasnt chewed on ANYTHING (other then his toys) in well over 6 months. We bought a brand new couch for the house. Should I worry he might chew it- either stress from moving or just cuz its a new couch? B) Hes house trained very well. He will go in the back room once in a while and thats only when no one is home and he really has to go. The few times he does do it in the house he does it in a small room thats linoleum. I understand that if you gotta go you GOTTA GO, luckly he never goes on the carpet....well our new house is all carpeted. Except the bathroom. The Kitchen is even carpeted. Will he maybe start going on carpet in those "gotta go now" moments, or will he "teach" himself not to cuz he wont go on the carpet...or should we leave the bathroom open for him for the few times he needs it? C) Runt and Shredder are not comming with us. How might he react not having them to play with. Later this month we are fencing the back yard in, but hell still be alone. hes never been with out other dogs. |

Thats really going to be a big adjustment for Kino. Especially not having Runt and Shredder there to play with.
He may do fine with the accidents. Just let him know where you'd like him to go potty. You may want to try pee pads for a bit or like you said you could let him have access to the bathroom but, if I did I think I'd use the pee pads in there. As far as his chewing up the couch I think that was maybe his puppy stage. But, I'd keep an eye on him. I'm excited for you. ![]() |

Could you afford to put in an outside kennel run with a doggie door so he can go out to potty?
I know how exciting it is to buy a new home. We just bought one, but it isn't built yet. Should be done by September. We are selling this big two story. We really wanted a one level when we bought this, but could not find one we liked. Anyway, we both have reason to celebrate!! |

Neither of us like doggie doors either. The Yard will be fenced in soon, I hope by the middle of May at the latest. But he wont be allowed outside while Im not home. .... |

When I moved to our new house I treated all 5 of my dogs like puppies back to basic house training pretty much, but with in 2 days I let off cause I realized they knew to go outside. I also kennel them and still do when Iam not home with a toy and a bowl of water.... You could if you don't now get him use to a kennel and make it a fun place, he will see this as his own special place to be. Then you won't have to worry about him when you are gone and if he's going to get into anything and harm himself or destroy your house. My kennels are huge for my boston's, they are ment for german shepherds, but I wanted as much room I could give them. I have them right in my living room and I have plants on top of them, trying to make them look like a piece of furniture ... lol
