How can i get my female pekingese to get along with my cats that she just meet?
I Need Alot Of Help With This. I Need To Know How I Can Get My Full Blooded Female Pekingese To Get Along With My Cats? I Just Got My Pekingese On Monday So I've Only Had Her For 4 Days So Far. The Website For Pekingese It Says That They May Get Along With Other Animals. But There Has To Be A Way That They Can Get To Know Each Other And Be Fine With Having Her In The House. She Is Really Protective Of Me Which Is Fine But She Needs To Get Along With The Cats And My Cats Cant Get Along With Her Right Now. I Have A Full Blooded Siamese Cat That Doesnt Like New Animals. It Takes Her A Long Time To Get Used To A New Animal But She Finally Will. I Just Need To Know How Can I Introduce The Cats To My Pekingese With Out The Cats Getting Scared And Hissing And Growling At My Dog? Please Anyone Help Me Out. When My Dog Doesnt Get Into There Faces Then The Cats Are Fine With Her. Let Me Know On This Please. I Would Really Appreciate It Alot For Your Help On This Topic.
Sincerely, Amber ( First Time Pekingese Owner) |

Cats will do that especially if they are unfamiliar with an animal. When I bring new cats into my home most always growl, hiss, and try and scratch my dogs. But with time, they learn to get along. What I would do is put the dog and cats in a room separated with a baby gate. Let the cats and dog smell each other through it. Let your cats jump over it and into the room with the dog as they please. It takes time! It could take months. Cats are not going to like dogs right away. They will learn to live with each other.
Do NOT leave them together unsupervised or your dog could injure the cats. |

Having an escape route for the cats is a good idea. Does the Peke chase the cats, or are the cats the problem? Rush used to lord over new dogs a brought into the house and he'd show them that he ment business. He wouldn't go out of his way to attack them but he'd hiss and swat at them if they got too curious. I never had any dog in the house, even ones that would normally chase cats, try to chase him. |
