Unhappy What to do?

I am thinking about adopting a small dog, but the last few times Chester has seen a little dog, the little dog gets all scared and stressed and tries to fight with Chester. What should I do if I do get a small dog?

Is it the little dog that gets scared and tries to pick a fight, or Chester?

Before you adopt any smaller dog just have them meet with Chester. If either one of the dogs don't "click" you'll know and you can just keep looking.

I wouldn't worry too much about the other dog's behaviour when you're meeting small dogs owned by other people. That's generally a result of not being given enough socialisation. Which is the owners fault in most (not all) cases rather than it being a 'breed thing' or 'small dog thing'.
Although, having said that....dog aggression does exist within a few small dog breeds.

I agree with Ritz, when you choose a small dog bring Chester along and make sure they 'click'. Perhaps consider a puppy instead of an adult dog if you're truely worried about an adult dogs reaction to Chester (although there are many small dogs out there that get along really well with big dogs, so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding one that fits your family).

Cass.

I have nothing against small dogs(Molson only weighs 25 lbs) but when I do alot of outdoor stuff(canoeing, backpacking snowboarding) I really wish Molson wans't small and that I didn't need to worry about him so much out in the wilderness. I end up leaving him at home alone when Harley and I go out to do anything relativly dangerous and I feel bad about it.

I love him to death but I got him while I still lived in the city and a big dog was outa the question.
