Won't walk on grass
Does anyone elses dog refuse to walk on grass? The strange thing is, it is only the grass in my parents back yard. She will walk around the yard on the bricks until she gets close to where she goes to the bathroom. She goes straight to the spot then straight to the brick again. The funny thing is she will even stay on the stone slab walk way instead of walking on the grass. I do not think it is an alergy because she does not lick her paws after, and sometimes she will play fetch on the grass. She never does this anywhere else, and it kind of confuses me.

Could the type of grass at your moms have anything in it that could stick her pads? Some have those little round burrs that look like clover and they hurt when stepped on. In any case that IS strange.
Hope you find the answer to that. |

I am not sure that is even the case because I fogot to mention she will walk on the grass in the front of the house. She has never been scourned for going on this grass, actually encouraged quite a bit. She was actually encouraged after a swift change in my schedule caused a relapse in her house breaking. It is not a big deal, just thouht it was a little strange is all. Thanks

I think some dogs just have likes and dislikes like humans. My boxer/GSD mix HATES to go outside when it's wet. He's happily run out the door, but once his feet get wet, he starts stepping around like there's a huge yucky mess around him. And he definetly hates going into wet grass. He picks his feet up and holds them like "Um... ew!"
How tall is the grass? Some dogs don't like tall grass... but she just may not like the grass back there, or either there is too much "waste" (doggy poo or urine). I find my dogs to sniff an area, and then they leap over it so they don't step on it... LOL |

The grass is short, but in retrospect she might think because I clean up all the dog poop on almost a daily basis that something is going on.
I always laugh when I hear of a strong powerful dog like your GSD disliking something like water. It goes to show just how far we have taken them from their wolf ancestors |

That does sound funny considering my 3 pound Yorkie has to be kept inside when the sprinklers are on or she runs all thru them. She LOVES playing in them but doesn't care much for a bath.
