this is the worst

my aunty bought a 3 yr old maltese frm a friend due to some circumstances. its really cute and cool but this is gthe worst dog i have ever seen. its a male and he isnt castrated yet. whenever a stranger comes to the house, it will growl and bark fiercely...very fiercely i mean it....and it will bite the stranger after which think it will feel guilty and will lick the person once he/she is bitten..after that the dog will be calm and will start playing wif the person....this happenes to every one who comes into the house....growl and bark and attack wildly, gets a bite and everything is settled. my aunt bought a anti-bark collar to stop it from barking as she lives in a high rise apartment and the bark really is **** loud and piercing... what can i do to help my aunt./

#1: Fix the dog ASAP! This will not necessarily curb unwanted behaviors, but it will curb potential unwanted puppies!

#2: Your aunt should keep the dog on a leash when people come to her house. Everyone should ignore the dog until it has calmed down.

#3: This dog sounds like an excellent candidate for obedience training. He obviously thinks your aunt is a lower member of his pack -- he is biting to assert his dominance, and then because it works (I imagine most people go "Ow!" and back off), he thinks things are peaceful in the pack and accepts the new member. I would advise your aunt to go to lessons or purchase a book and follow it carefully. I also recommend the NILIF method.

kade is right.
Have your aunt keep the dog on a leash each and every time someone comes in until it calms down. If it doesn't calm down, don't let if off the leash.
Also, your aunt and everyone that deals with the dogs needs to use the NILF program.
The dog obviously lacks socialization and dog school would be good for it, as would LOTS of long walks, ON A LEASH. By having the dog on a leash your aunt is in control, not the other way around.

The dog needs OB training now. The dog should be kept from strangers till it can calm itself or you can control it in the house. Its not biting and then licking because it feels bad that doesn't happen. Put it in a crate, another room something when people come over and find some people that don't mind a crazily acting dog barking at them while you have it on a leash so they don't get bit, and work on introductions and that the barking and biting are not tolerated.

It sounds like the dog has been thro alot and does not know where his place is in the house hold. I personally would wait a bit before fixing because of all that he has been thro it can tramatize the dog... Obedience and alot of it, go back to treating him like a puppy, don't allow on furniture ect.... The dog sounds like he needs alot of socialization and thats where obedience class will come in.... Does the dog jump up at people and bite them or do people approach him and then he bites.... If he jumps at people then I would keep him on leash if he doesn't then I wouldn't.... Tell people to stop approaching him and allow him to come to them...
Don't approach allow dog to come to you...
Don't lean over dog that act as a threat and can cause dogs to bite...
Don't give the dog eye contact when talking to the dog look away....
I have read to crouch down to a dog and offer a fist but under the dogs chin not above the head and all the while not giving eye contact...
Company can also have treats in their hand and when the dog comes to approach tell them how good they are and offer them a treat...
Never force an animal that will only cause a bite...

You say he bites but what causes him to bite? When people come over put the dog in a down and make him stay in a down till he calms down. A dog feels more vulnerable in this position and he will soon see that the people that are coming over are not a threat.... I did this with Junior when out in public and it has worked a charm, people can now pet him with out a problem and Iam very proud of my man.... Your aunt should not be petting him or comforting him in any way like telling him its ok and stuff when he is acting like this because that is basically just telling him that his behaviour is ok.... When I did this with Junior I had him in a down and I was about a foot or two away from him and had a slack leash, I did not tense at all cause he can feel that thro the leash... I would go over and praise/treat for being good... Dogs have more trouble barking in a down...

I do hope I have been of some help and best of luck

another thing your aunt can do to curb the barking/biting is to buy a muzzle for the dog. It can be used as a training device when teaching the dog to control barking. My dog stewie goes crazy when he sees anything with two wheels (bicycles, motorcycles, etc...) and I've been advised that a muzzle AND training would be the best thing. Be careful, though, not to use the muzzle more than 20 minutes at a time. This should be plenty of time beginning from when a stranger enters the apartment. Hope this helps.
