I just realized that i didnt post in the book section yet, and im a big book fan, so i hope no one minds if i just make a list of all the dog books that i own that i have read (chapter books and care/breed books) and enjoyed. Plus, i must admit, im pretty bored.
I will write what i thought of that book, but if i dont it means i read it a long time ago and dont remember what happens. The books that i own and have read: -Chapter Books: --Red Dog, by: Bill Wallace (A really good book) --Shiloh, by: Phyllis Reynolds Naylor (Such an old book, i read it the first time when i was about 7 years old) --Julie's Wolf Pack, by: Jean Craighead George --Protecting Marie, by: Kevin Henkes (I dont remember parts of it because i read it a few years ago, but i remember i liked it) --Kavik the Wolf Dog, by: Walt Morey (Great book, one of those kind about a dog getting taken away from his family and then traveling a long ways to get back to them) --The Last Dog On Earth, by: Daniel Ehrenhaft (This was a great book about the bond between a dog and her owner) --Cats & Dogs, by: Elizabeth Lenhard --Hank the Cowdog, by: John R. Erickson --Dominic, by: William Steig --Scruffy, by: Jack Stoneley (This book is so sad, but it is the truth about how some strays live, over all i really liked it) --The Captain's Dog, by: Roland Smith --White Fang, by: Jack London --The Call Of the Wild, by: Jack London (I love Jack London's books) -Breed/Care Books: --The Complete Dog Owner's Manual, by: Amy Marder (Some very beautiful pictures in this book) --Your Outta Control Puppy, by: Teoti Anderson (Lots of cute puppies! This book has a lot of good information, too)--Training Your Dog, by: Joachim Volhard and Gail Tamases Fisher (I like this book because there is an ESS on the cover and there is a drawing that shows the body parts and it is a nice looking ESS. I like the training techniques so far, but havent tried them yet.) --Training Your Own Bird Dog, by: Henry P. Davis (I havent really read this one yet, but just by glancing through it and reading a paragraph here and there, it sounds like a pretty good book) --How To Raise And Train An Alaskan Malamute, by: Charles J. Berger (I havent read this one either, since i dont have an Alaskan Malamute, but there are some nice pictures in it) --Golden Retrievers, by: James E. Walsh, Jr. (I love this book, ive owned it ever since i was really little. There is good information in it and some gorgeous pictures) --Golden Retrievers, by: Jamie J. Sucher (Same as the other Golden Retriever book i have, i love it, i think it might be becuase i still love Goldens )--Miniature Pinschers, by: D. Caroline Coile (This is a great book, also. I got it a few years back, when i was planning on getting a Min Pin, i still want one, but im waiting until we dont have as many dogs in the house) Ok, thats all i can find for now, i dont remember where i hid my book stash. I might be posting more once i find them. ![]() |

Out of the books you listed I have read.. -Shiloh -Kavik the Wolf Dog -Scruffy (This book -really- was sad) -White Fang -Call of the Wild ..and I must agree that they are all good reads ^^ I still like reading them to this day, despite being a tad over the recommended age :P I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a nice dog read. |

Lol i hadnt read a book in months until yesterday, but im re-reading some books now. I need to get some more books. Thankfully, there is a used bookstore near this town where you can take in books that you dont want anymore and trade them for some used books. Its my favorite bookstore because they have lots of dog and John Saul (one of my favorite authors) books.

that sounds like such a cool bookstore!! I could get a new book for every day of the year!!! I have LOTS of books, but I've read them already. I've read a few on the list, but it's been a very long time. One book I didn't see on there is "Where the red fern grows" by Wilson Rawls. I remember reading that in 6th grade and sobbing my eyes out. I read it every year after that up until I went to colleger 5 years ago. I should read it again.

Yeah its a great bookstore. I have a big set of "Pony Pals" books that i have outgrown, so i think im going to take in all of them.
Ooh! Im going to have to buy that one, i read it a few years ago and its such a good story, i havent forgotten one part of it! Thats what i thought of when i told my friend that i would take Simetra. A male and a female from the same litter, that i train for hunting (even though we hunt birds, not racoons). I just hope it doesnt end out how the book ended! ![]() |
