The Other End of the Leash - Patrica McConnell

I just finished reading this book and was wondering if anyone else has read it and what they thought of it.

I personally thought it was fantastic - particularly as she discussed quite a few times the importance of meeting a pups parents and the possible problems that can arise in pet shop puppies because of their lack of socialisation at such a critical period in their lives.

I found it interesing how she discussed the overuse of "dominance" and "aggression" and how these terms are often being applied incorrectly to many dogs.

It was also great to see how our natural body language as "primates" can actually send our dogs that complete opposite message to what we are really trying to tell them.

All in all I thought this book was really insightful and loved it!!

I love that book. I think it's one of the books every dog owner should read.
I'm actually just finishing her new book "For the love of a dog" and it's fabulous too.

I went to exchange a book I already had and buy it, but while reading through it in the book store it looked like mostly information I already knew. You've re-sparked my interest, though, so I may have to go and try buying it again. lol I may try to trade or sell the book I bought instead for it.

I very seldomly ever buy books, I normally just get them from the library, download them or whatever.

With that said I bought hard cover versions of both "Other End of the Leash" and "For the love of a dog"

I borrow these books out to every single dog person I know of in the hope that it'll make some kind of difference in a dog out there somewhere.

I've read the book and loved every minutes of it. I've actually been thinking about going back and reading it again.
