Talking Book Recommendations Please - Mulitple Dogs

Has anyone read any good books on living with multiple dogs they could recommend please? Looking for something that deals with a range of stuff - from introducing them to dealing with any problems that might come up, training etc.

Hmmmmm....honestly, I've never really had just a book on owning multiple dogs. The training books I have dedicate a chapter or so to the subject and with everything I picked up online and through magazines I never really looked for a book focusing on just a multiple dog household.

Isn't there a really good phamplet/book about multiple dogs written by the person who wrote "The Other End of the Leash" and "For the Love of a Dog"?
Ah, here it is: Feeling Outnumbered?

Oh, and I second that, are you getting another dog?! We must know these things, as we are a nosey lot. LOL

I think you would have more luck finding information on the internet, and just printing it out so it's to hand. You'll have a hard time, I would think, finding a book specifically on "first time multiple dog ownership".

Thanks guys, I was asking on behalf of a friend though hopefully I will eventually be getting another dog.

I had seen the books from Dogwise, just didn't know whether they were worth getting or not. Maybe I'll point her towards the internet first.

Ah, here it is: Feeling Outnumbered?
There is a DVD too, she had the seminar recorded.

COMBINATION PACKAGE: VIDEO + BOOK ( CLICK HERE for Book Description )
Feeling a bit outnumbered by your pack of dogs? Maybe there’s a bit too much excitement at the door when visitors come to call? Or perhaps there’s some tension between two of your dogs and you want to be sure it doesn’t escalate. Feeling Outnumbered is designed to help with all that and more, by emphasizing fun, positive exercises that teach your dogs to be patient and polite, rather than pushy and demanding.

Included is how to teach dogs to be polite at the door, how to stop dogs from competing for your attention, the value of a “Group Stay,” and much, much more. The exercises, clearly illustrated by Patricia McConnell in her own home, will be most useful if you and your dogs have a few basic signals under your belt, but whatever your stage of training expertise, this video will help anyone who loves their dogs, and wouldn’t mind living with a little less canine commotion!
There's another one called - Multiple Dogs by Trish King.
Trish King - Tawzer Dog Videos

Quote:
It's getting more and more popular to own more than one dog - some of us have three, four, even five dogs. While this can be lots of fun, it can also present problems, whether it's choosing the wrong companions, managing them, or training them. Many bond to each other, and don't care about their owner. Others don't get along with one or more members of the canine pack. In this workshop, discussion is on choosing wisely, maintaining a friendly pack, training individually and together, and trouble-shooting problems. - November 2005 - Novato, CA.
