Exclamation Dog Food Or Your Food??????

When ever you go and make food, doesn't your pooch stare at you with those beady eyes? Now think of yourself, as your dog. Imagine what that bland dry food tastes like that you always eat, and 3 times a day you smell something that comes from the heavens you wish had it so bad, but when you beg your owner says NO!, and points to your dish.
So do you think that you should give some of your food to your dog, or do you think that they should stick to there food? Heck, I would give up 2 years to eat the food I like. Always in moderation they say though. Now I'm not saying that you should give your dog human food all of a sudden, but should you give your dog some of your food, or just let it eat the bland stuff? I choose to give ours a little of our food.
What is your take on it? Bluh. Or Sausage Egg And Cheese?
Your decision.

My dogs are on part RAW diets, so they eat human food quite a bit, but they get only the things that are good for them.

They also don't get slipped table scraps, and whatever "human food" they get, is given to them in their dishes. And it didn't last long, but that "look" and begging while I was eating didn't last long. They know better now and lay down and not bother me when I eat. I CAN'T STAND begging!

It's all personal preference though, as long as what you are giving isn't junk or toxic to your dogs, go for it. How you go about it and if you don't mind begging is up to you.

Our dogs get human food(cats too). They LOVE the "Stew"(steak chunks, sweet potato, peas, green beans, and carrots) I make them over rice and they absolutely love Cottage Cheese with fresh fruit(no strawberries tho, the rather have Raspberries and Blackberries lol ).I don't mind giving dogs people food, as long as it's good for them. I won't give them any thing I feel or know isn't. I will not allow begging either ! If we want to gave the puppers a veggie, we take it off the plait, walk in the kitchen and then walk back to give it to them. That way they won't associate their treat with our plait of food.

My dogs get the crappy old dog food in the evening, but a lavish dish in the morning. In the morning they get rice and chicken which they love (sometimes rice and beef, depends).

Otherwise I'm pretty careful about what human foods they eat. Alot of it is not good for them.

River eats "dog" food in the mornings for breakfast but for dinner he usually has a bit of whatever we're having for tea as long as it's good for him (eg if we're having something with mince in it he'll get some of that and some veges) and twice a week he has a chicken carcus (he only eats half of it at a time!!!) So he gets a variety of food which I think he enjoys!

Post Our Dogs

Our dogs get an even portion of our food every time we eat,(mostly from my mom since she's a sweetheart to the dogs)like pizza, pasta, burgers, vegges, and all sorts of stuff. My biiiggg dog Layla gets the least because were getting her on a doggie diet. The dogs do associate the plates with treats so they all hoard by my mom. Huhhh.... I wish Remington would stop stepping on me by the table to get to mom! What' done is done I guess. Only until we get new dogs, hopefully not for a looong while.

Did I mention that it's my mom's birthbay today?

Dog is man's "GOD", or just man's best friend!

Nope because they know better The rule in the house is while the humans eat, if the dogs want to be close to the table to catch any fallen morsals they MUST be in a down. If they arent lying down then they must be in another part of the house or at least behind the counter that divides the kitchen from the eating area. Also if a piece of food does fall niether are allowed to go for it until I say so (this is a safety thing in case something that is poisonous to them falls on the floor, plus it also saves us from having any fights if both dogs are rushing to get something).

On that note, I do give the boys all kinds of human food that is safe for them because part of their diet is BARF anyways lol

we don't feet scraps from our hands...and especially never when we are eating or just after. If the dogs get table scraps they get them mixed in with their dinner or we take them outside and they get them in the yard a little while after we've eaten. Our dogs don't see OUR food as THEIR food. As a result, we don't have beggars or dogs stalking us while we try to eat.

How could we possibly know that our dogs think their dog food is bland? They may think it's the best thing in the world.

I feed raw, chicken frames, pork necks, turkey backs/necks, deer heads, moose bones, heart, liver, kidney, fish etc......... not exactly bland diet lol but they do get table scraps as well, I have no issue with begging, so long as they are not stealing food, or drooling on me lol i share candy too, Leck LOVES it when i share my Rockets(I believe they are known as smarties in the USA) with her lol I was suprised, most of my dogs dont like anything tangy, but Leck loves it lol

Meet my crazy Schmittie
When our Casey was going through the rough time, we were making the hamburger & rice up for a couple of days. So I had to give her brother some as well (only fair ).
When we tried to give him his plain food again, the critter began "butting" his dog bowl like a billy goat (not funny at first, we were worried).

He'd butt his bowl all the way under my bureau, once taking my jacket off a little step-stool and butting that against it, totally concealing it. We threw all the old cans out because we thought he was telling us it was bad/rotten or something. (We did sniff & check the dates, though, but you never know).
Since I've been on here learning more, now give him soft-boiled eggs, steamed carrots and celery, banana (still double checking online for other safe veggies which he won't stick his nose up at).
We eat ham alot so it's nice to read that others give their dogs ham (I was always afraid of the saltiness :>) Thank you!

I dont give food off my plate. They eat out of their bowls and mainly get dog food. Some times I do mix in some healthy human food. If they were to get something left over from my plate I make them sit and stay for it, and I dont give it where I eat. I hate begging dogs.
Really I have to give it up to my kids cause I can leave food on the coffee table and leave the room and they wont touch it.

Talking Old Dogs

Our two older dogs are old and decrepid so we don't teach them anything anymore. The littles Triton,Layla,Brigadoon, have to sit first. But it's all good. We love our dogs!

I didn't think that you could feed a dog ham due to risk of worms or Trichinosis.
