I think it's an uneducated and biased site.
There are medical reasons for a tail dock, they don't normally use anesthesia for a dock either and infection can happen if your dog snags a nail on something...it's been argued to death. Some people just like to find things to fuss about and so they say it's uncalled for. There is proof it's not uncalled for.

A-h-h-h-h-h!!! Not ear cropping again. Please say it isn't so. LOL, you didn't know noreaster. We have had long threads about this in the past. You wouldn't believe your eyes. You can do a search on here and read the whole thread if you want to.

That is a really misinformed bunch of bologna on that site. They don't know what they're talking about. I could dig up 2 or 3 articles for every one of these types which would correctly explain the physiology of ear cartilage and the nerve endings therein and undeveloped nervous systems in dogs who get their tails docked at a very young age. The drama portrayed in that and other sources is highly exaggerated by people who don't know any better.

Did I open another can of worms? I'm sorry. I think that site is totally absurd. I agree it's misinformed. The things people come up with.

haha, I have my own opinions about ear cropping, but this line of the website made me laugh...

Quote:
After ear cropping, dogs suffer from a phantom pain around the scars until the end of their life (!), what may cause serious behavioral problems.
Yeah, like you know that. I'll give you an example, a lot of men have elective surgery at birth (you know what I'm talking about), yet, I've never had phantom pains. And, even if they did have them, how in the world would you know for sure?

And, I just love the blaming of behavior problems on this...yeah, my dog attacked my son, but it was because that darn breeder clipped his ears...not my fault at all.

...some people

hey... don't shoot the messenger!
Nor'Estr (spelling, sorry) seems new here!

Anyhow... on this issue and basically every single issue...
I have a "to each his own" policy.

Its cruel? It's useless?

Well... so is smoking, tanning, eating fast food, peircing things, tattoos, plastic surgery... blah blah blah... no ones outlawing those things (yet... :shiver: ). So why, if it doesnt DIRECTLY affect others... do the "others" even care?
I understand the hole animal cruelty thing... but then if you want to go that root... dont perform "ear pinning back" surgeries or peircings, or tattoos, or anything cosmetic on humans anymore either. Afterall... if its animal cruelty/abuse.. then its human cruelty/abuse too.

This is a dog forum. You can open any kind of can, worms or snakes or anything. Don't you worry. LOL. You missed out on being here when the earlier cans were open. You didn't get any, so what the heck! No harm done.

I have to agree that it's just another person/group trying to stir the pot. I couldn't believe it either. "behavior issues"....give me a break!! What's next? "If your dog doesn't drink purified water, it could cause brain damage and behavior issues"....rriiiiiight.....It's fine if you don't believe in the crop/dock issue, but don't spread lies about it!! JEEZ

heh. i went to a big dog thing last weekend and there was an animal communicator there. i ended up talking to some girl with a pit bull with cropped ears who had talked to the animal communicator.

the communicator told this girl that her dog was terribly emotionally scarred by the cropping and by his ears "looking different than all the other dogs' ears."

we both had a good eye roll about it.
