Healthy Dry FOOD???
Dose anybody kno a couple of nutritious kinds of dog food??
What are the recomended nutition values for dry dog food? And My guess is that a small dog breed should get small breed puppy food as a puppy because is develops faster then a large breed, is that right? And as an adult would it be better to by a small breed dog food? For Science Diet dog food do you think I could use there puppy formula in small bites when my dog is a puppy? and then use the sdult food in regular when its an adult? Last question I promise, when a dog food says small bites dose that mean its smaller food or for small dogs??/ Sorry for all the Questions!!! LOL |

Toypoodlelvr,
I STRONGLY recommend against Science Diet. Science Diet is primarily grains. If you check out the teeth on your dog, s/he sure wasn't made primarily for grains. Always ALWAYS find a food that stresses meat or some other protein such as fish. Quote:
When looking for a Good food, it should include: Some type of protein as its very first ingredient. Nothing less! The source of protein should be specified and it should NOT be a by-product. For example, a good food will have beef/meal, lamb/meal, chicken/meal, etc. as its first ingredient. NOT chicken by-product or poultry meal (or anything like this). The food should NOT contain BHT, BHA, Ethoxyquin, or propylene glycol. The food can list grains but never be Ingredient #1. The food should include nutritious items such as blueberries. NO Dye or Artificial colorings. I know there are more guidelines but my brain has turned to mush .Some good food: Wysong Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul Canidae Wellness Innova Solid gold Blue Buffalo Pinnacle Natural Balance |

If you want a good brand of food, try something that is approved by the Whole Dog Journal. I think small bites just means smaller pieces. Brands approved by the WDJ include Flint River Ranch, Wellness, Innova, Solid Gold, etc.
