Unhappy update on Rowdy who ate recalled dog food

Just wanted to update everyone on my brothers Dog Rowdy who ate some of the recalled dog food. Rowdy is a 14 year old Jack Russel. He started to have seizures right after he ate the recalled dog food. He has been drinking lots of water and acting strange. He has fallen several times. Once down the outside stairs and into his water bowl. Poor boy, My brother was so upset he had picked up the 3 pouches of dog food for a special treat. Little did he know this was going to happen. He took Rowdy to the vet. The vet did blood work and he came back and said: Rowdy is over weight & old so he doesn't think it's the food. Rowdy is now on medication which he will need the rest of his life. Rowdy is still having seizures since he came home from the vet. I just find this really strange that he started to have the seizures and these other issue after eating the recalled President choice dog food pouches. It makes me so mad & frustrated. I told my brother I'd want a second opinion from another vet. What do you guys think?

Yes. Get a second opinion.

I really hope the best for Rowdy!

This is happening all over. I do hope he doesn't get worse.
I was at Petco yesterday and they still have the bags and canned Iams on the shelves. I went to the supermarket and they were all taken off. I don't understand.

It's definitely worth a second opinion. I hope they are able to find a way of stopping the seizures - poor little guy

Second opinion was my first thought. This vet doesn't seem to be up-to-speed with the consequences of this recall. Gosh how heartbreaking... Definitely recommend he see another vet, and please continue the updates. I feel so horrible for your brother and Rowdy. It just sounds exactly like the symptoms other dog victims have suffered.

I'll be keeping Rowdy in my thoughts and prayers. I agree, a second opinion couldn't hurt at all.

I'm sorry to hear that Rowdy isn't doing too well, poor boy! I agree about seeing another vet for a second opinion.

Poor Rowdy. I hope he gets up to speed soon.

Is it just the moist dog food that is being recalled or the dry as well?

Thank you to everyone for your replies & prayers. It's just the moist dog food that is being recalled
I just talked to my brother he said the package of food he gave Rowdy said Canadian vet approved on it. Geez wonder if any vet in Canada would want to blame it on the dog food. Makes me wonder if some vets have shares in dog food. Poor Rowdy is on 4 pills a day now( narcotics & pills to settle his stomach). He never had any issues before he ate the food. The vet said his blood work came back good. Rowdy has been drinking lots of water, more then normal and peeing in the house which has never been a problem. Geez so frustrating. I wonder what these companies will do to help cover the cost of all the vet bills. I know my brother paid $200 for the vet bill and $45 for pills. The vet wants Rowdy back for more blood test in a month. More money.

Hello,
I lost my dog to cancer not too long ago. Hope you dog gets better. I drive a big rig and picked up a load from Purina in Flagstaff AZ a few days ago. At the same time they were loading my trailer, another truck next to me at the dock was bringing a load back from Calif that was refused. My load went to Taget distribution center in Shafter, Ca. Just a piece of info for you. Be sure you keep up on the news about this recall. To them it's all about that mighty dollar , to us it's our precious pets. Hope things go well for you. Sorry your dog is sick. Try searching Menufoods.com, there might be some info there for you.

Lots of vets get kickbacks for selling a certain brand so I would definately check it with another vet
