Question New Iams food

I saw a commercial for a new food: Iams Naturals. Do you think more people will go out and buy this food since they put the word naturals on it?
Here are the ingredients of the Naturals:
Chicken, Chicken By-Product Meal, Brewers Rice, Corn Meal, Ground Whole Grain Sorghum, Ground Whole Grain Barley, Chicken Fat (preserved with mixed Tocopherols, a source of Vitamin E), Dried Beet Pulp (sugar removed), Natural Chicken Flavor, Dried Egg Product, Brewers Dried Yeast, Potassium Chloride, Salt, Vitamins (Vitamin E Supplement, Beta-Carotene,Ascorbic Acid, Vitamin A Acetate, Calcium Pantothenate, Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate (source of vitamin B1), Niacin, Riboflavin Supplement (source of vitamin B2), Inositol, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (source of vitamin B6), Vitamin D3 Supplement, Folic Acid) Flax Meal, Fish Oil (preserved with mixed Tocopherols, a source of Vitamin E), Dried Apple Pomace, Dried Carrots, Dried Peas, Choline Chloride, Minerals (Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Oxide, Manganese Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Manganous Oxide, Potassium Iodide, Cobalt Carbonate), Calcium Carbonate, ) Dried Spinach, Dried Tomato, Calcium Carbonate, L-Carnitine, Rosemary Extract

Vs. Reg. Iams Chunks:
Chicken, Corn Meal, Ground Whole Grain Sorghum, Chicken By-Product Meal, Chicken Fat (Preserved with mixed Tocopherols, a source of Vitamin E), Dried Beet Pulp (Sugar Removed), Natural Chicken Flavor, Fish Meal, Potassium Chloride, Dried Egg Product, Brewers Dried Yeast, Salt, Flax Meal, Calcium Carbonate, Sodium Hexametaphosphate, Fish Oil (Preserved with mixed Tocopherols, a source of Vitamin E), Choline Chloride, Minerals (Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Oxide, Manganese Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Manganous Oxide, Potassium Iodide, Cobalt Carbonate), Vitamins (Vitamin E Supplement, Ascorbic Acid, Vitamin A Acetate, Calcium Pantothenate, Biotin, Thiamine Mononitrate (Source of Vitamin B1), Vitamin B12 Supplement, Niacin, Riboflavin Supplement (Source of Vitamin B2), Inositol, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Source of Vitamin B6), Vitamin D3 Supplement, Folic Acid), DL-Methionine, Rosemary Extract

Iams says the naturals have 9 outstanding ingredients including high quality proteins and they added omega fatty acids.

I think the people who buy Iams will probably start buying the naturals. I hope this doesn't switch people who buy their food where Iams is usually sold and and change from wysong or natural balance, etc. What do you think about the new Iams food and who do you think will change?

I think the Iams naturals is just as bad as regular Iams but that's my opinion.

I think your right... they can say natural.. but still..

By product... a no no.
I am sure more people will... but I think that goes for any " natural" food.

I think Iams buyers will change...I am sure each brand has their own naturals.

It is better than the regular Iams but not but much. Still has by-products and way too much grain. The corn is still the cheap filler. For the price, you can get better food at Costco or make it yourself.

I'm sure people will buy it....a lot of people buy Beneful and that is a brand of food that I would stay away from They see the pictures of all of the food on the package and they think it is a good food.

Packaging says a lot. I bought (well, my mom bought, but I picked out) a bag of Innova Evo cat and kitten food for Pheobe to eat (I was running around Buckles with my mom saying, "Hurry up and pick one!" trying to find some darn kitten food that was good. At the very last minute I FINALLY found the Innova...wonderful food. ) and my mom told me, after griping about the price, "I wouldn't have bought that bag of food. I like the purple color, but that cat on the front is ugly." *rolls eyes*
I LOVE the food though....absolutely wonderful ingredients.

Yep. Innova makes good stuff. I liked the Evo when I fed kibble. Their canned is even better but I never tried it before going raw/home cook.

All food is natural.... Who do they think they are kidding? I have learned a long time ago to read the small print first then read the name on the label. Iams is losing it's shirt because they have so much competition in the pet food market and they have to get an edge to push their own products. The food still contains junk and won't be coming into this household. I will stick with Innova and if that proves to be less than the quality I want in a food for my dog I'll home cook for her so I know she's getting the best.

LOL I'm sorry but I had to laugh when I looked at both ingredients. I don't see too much of a difference in the naturals, and most of the ingredients just look to be in different order.

Just as everyone pointed out, still has by-products, loads of fillers and corn in the first 4 ingredients.

I'm sure there will be a huge increase in people switching to "naturals". That's probably the most common food I see at work: Iams & Eukanuba. Beneful is the third most common and Pedigree is probably the runner up. Nutro is one of the more common of the "better" foods.

I've seen a few people come in with Natural Balance, Canidae, Wysong, Eagle Pack...

LOL! That's exactly what I thought. lol!

You'd think the general public would realise that having By product meal as a second ingredient probably isn't a good choice.

Of beneful, it's really really popular around here. I'd say about 60% of the dog people I know feed beneful. And these are dog people who should know better, but still stand behind beneful 100%.

I'm amazed they can call that food "Natural" and get away with it. Those are horrible ingredients. Maybe home cooking is the best way to go. I home cook for my three and they couldn't be healthier.

Yep, calgal. I just took Boo for a checkup and I'm saving over $200 each year because he doesn't need teeth cleanings.

I don't homecook for my guys, but I do keep a good watch on my guys teeth. Keeping them chewing on marrow bones and other safe chews, I haven't had to have my guys teeth cleaned at all. They still have pearly-whites!

However, I have noticed that the lower quality foods tend to take a toll on the dogs breath/teeth.
