Unhappy Worried that I have to read lables at stores for dog food.

It really worries me that I have to check the ingredience on dog food. If something is very bad, I'm like "HOW CAN THEY EVEN TRY TO PUT THIS ON THE MARKET?!?!?!?!" Can anybody tell me what canned dog foods are best? I feed Ches one can of canned dog food a day, devided into 2-3 meals. I feed him a bit of canned, ontop of the dry. (and some dry for snacks in between) What wet foods are best?

We use a variety of good ones. Wellness Chicken and Sweet Potatoes, Merrik's Thanksgiving Day Dinner, Merrik's Grammy's Pot Pie, and also, Organic by Nature Chicken.

Snow,
Reading the labels is status quo. To start, avoid products with non-descriptive meats (e.g. meat meal) by-products, glutens, and any grain listed first in the ingredients list.

In short, don't buy any brand of pet food sold in supermarkets. Go to smaller pet food stores instead.

Better yet -- feed raw (pre-made or human-grade grocery store meats).

I'm not sure what brands of dog food you have in the US, but here are a list of some ingredients you should definitely avoid if they are listed in any dog food:

Meat by-products
Grain
Corn
Grapes

Edited to add: I suggest you read this thread:http://www.globalpaw.com/forum/dog-f...food-fido.html (The Dogs Dinner: All You Wanted to Know About Food For Fido). It lists the good and the bad, and what to avoid. It's seriously worth a read!
