Doggy Diet Food?
Hi Everyone -
I have noticed lately that my pup has been on some weight over the past few months - I tried putting her on Science diet food but it seems to hurt her stomach. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good brand of doggy diet food or any tips in general to help her shed a few pounds? BTW, she is a lab / sharpe mix. |

Hi Mally! Welcome to the forums!
![]() How much exercise a day does your pup get? Has she been exercising less due to weather or your schedule or...? Does she get a measured amount of food per day or is her bowl always full? What brand of food was she on previously? Hate to answer your question with a bunch of questions, but that'll help us make better suggestions! ![]() |

"Diet" food isn't really necessary in my opinion. Just increase the exercise and/or lower the amount of food (including treats) your dog gets a day.
Science diet is a terrible food to feed your dog. You might also like to look at the quality of food you're currently feeding your dog. At the top of this health forum we have a good list of commercial dog foods showing you what's good, what's not so good and what's so awful you should never feed it (and why). Cass. |

So, previously I had her on Iams. She gets a fair amount of exercise each day - walk in morning, short walk at lunch, and longer walk in evening. I feed her in the morning and in the evening - I do not keep food in her bowl at all times. Any suggestions now that you have the desired information?
