Home made dog treats
I'm looking for some great recipes for home made dog treats to add to my list of things I give to my kids. I'm goint all the way to home prepared foods and not buying any commercially made products.
Thanks |

I don't buy commerical prepared foods or treats of any kind for my three. This is the recipe I made up myself that mine go nuts for, along with every other dog I've given them to.
![]() 4 cups unbleached flour 4 cups whole wheat flour (or if there are allergies then use rice flour) 1 package of fat free dry milk 1/2 cup vegetable oil 2 packages calf liver (cooked, cold then ground) 4 eggs slightly beaten lover broth Cook the liver in enough water to cover till done. Place on a plate till cold or in ref. saving the broth. Then ground till it resembles coarse ground beef. Mix all ingredients together and pour liver broth a little at a time. Not too sticky or too dry. Like making bread. If you don't have enough liver broth then add some chicken broth. Roll out on floured surface to about 1/4 inch and cut in what ever shape you want. (I use a bone shape cutter). Place on ungreased cookie pan and bake in a pre heated 300 degree oven for 45 minutes. Cool on wire rack, place in freezer zip locks and keep in freezer. I give them to my dogs right out of the freezer for extra crunch. |

Since going raw recently, I don't use treats anymore, but for training I use shredded roasted meats and goat cheese. I mainly use chicken, turkey and sirloin beef. For cheese I use grated hard cheeses made from goats milk, our favorite is goat cheddar. I'm going to try this one soon, it's oven dried liver bits. HTH |
