Eyes = Mirror to the soul

So, not long before we decided to move, we were really having some money troubles. The price of Canidae had gone up, and we got to a point where even a dollar was a lot for us to spend. So we ended up switching back to a brand we used to feed... Exclusive.
I can only say, over the past 2 months, I have seen such a change in the dogs it disgusted my mom and I. Firstly, the dogs all became itchy on the Exclusive. Then we noticed they had that "doggy odor" which they had never had while on the Canidae. We fed them this for about a month or more. We ended up getting a free 50lb bag of Science Diet (yuck I know) from the rescue we're with, so we took it and fed it. That was the worst thing we could do. Their coats became VERY VERY dry, they were shedding like crazy, and most all of them were vomiting atleast once a day. We couldn't stand it anymore and went ahead and switched back to the Canidae. Things are a bit better off now, so we don't have to scrape pennies. But my doG, I will never EVER feed a low quality food ever again! I'm just waiting for the time when they're all back to normal -- seeing their fur shine and running my fingers through without cringing because it's so dry. Kelso had a BEAUTIFUL shiny, full black coat. But he almost seems to have suffered with that the most out of the dogs. His hair is super thin and very dry. It's just now starting to get some shine back to it. Times were hard though, so there really wasn't much we could do, but from now on I'll find any way possible to keep my dogs on the food they're on to watch them stay healthy. |

Have you tried Kirkland Signature? Costco sells it for about 20 dollars for a 50 pound bag. It has done good for my dogs, who used to be on a crap food (Beneful YUCK!!).

Yeah it is amazing that you can really notice the difference when you switch your dogs' food to a higher quality food. It is pretty scary seeing how poor quality effects them so much, though. I'm glad to hear you're able to feed your pups Canidae now. I bet they're feeling much better!

I haven't tried it yet.. but my parents would have to get a membership to them and we've already got a member ship to Sams Club. I don't even think there is a Costco nearby up here. I think we'd have to travel back south, which would defeat the purpose.

Wow! If that's not a great example to other people who don't give a darn about what food they feed their dog I don't know what is. You should be showing off the effects of that horrid food to anyone you can to convert them!
Glad you can afford to feed them a better food now. Oh and by the way...when their coats are back to their shiny best....can we see more pictures of the Icey Clan? Cass. |

I agree with Cass 100%. Spread the word! Before and after pictures would be great! I'm sorry about your financial problems and I know you probably felt horribly guilty when your babies suffered like that due to a cheap dog food, but don't. You did what anyone would do. Big warm hugs comming your way!
