I just heard about Rachael Ray's new dog food called "Nutrish". I was wondering if anyone has tried it and if it is considered a good dog food or not. I was at Pet's Mart earlier today and didn't see it there (her website says it can be found almost anywhere).

Yup, I looked it up and had a look at the ingredients. They're not good. Corn, corn, corn. I wouldn't feed it to any dog I owned.

Isn't "Rach" annoying enough that I need to see her face on a bag of dogfood as well as every other thing I use in my kitchen? The consolation is that she chose to make a crap dogfood to save a buck on cost and production. No doubt folks will buy it because her mug is on the bag! (Personally, I cant stand her). Atleast VanPatten has the decency to see to it that his food ranks amongst the best of the best.
If you need to buy a food endorsed by a celebrity guys, go with VanPatten's or Newman's (I think Vanpatten's is the better choice). "Rach" is out to make the almighty $$ and nothing else. Trying not to hate, -Shmee |

Do you really think she knows what she is doing? Putting out dog food that really isn't "nutrish"ionable? She is such an advocate for dogs I would like to think she doesn't realize it but I guess I just find it shocking that people don't always choose to do the right thing. It says on her website that all profits will be donated: "Daytime host, best-selling author and pet lover Rachael Ray has launched a new line of super premium dog food and treats called Rachael Ray™ Nutrish. Ray’s proceeds from each sale will be donated to support Rachael’s Rescue (Rachael Ray's Official Website :: Rachael's Rescue), which is dedicated to helping at-risk animals through adoption, medical care and educational programs, along with training and outreach initiatives." Here is the website if you want to check it out: Rachael Ray's Official Website :: Rachael Ray Launches Line of Super Premium Dog Food & Treats Rachael Ray™ Nutrish – How Cool Is That? It makes me sad to think she would put out a bad food.
Anyway, I went ahead and ordered Flint River Ranch "fish & chips". A lady who runs the Houston Westie Rescue feeds it to all of her rescues. Westies are known for their skin sensitivites and she is a huge advocate for this food. Check out her website and the difference the food has made from some of the dogs. Here is her site : Westie Rescue Houston Malassezia Check out Katy and Didi, there stories are great. |

I believe Nutrish a Wal-Mart special as that's the only place I've seen it around Oklahoma City. That's the only reason I need NOT to buy it. . . Not to mention the ingredients look horrible. We've been feeding our Lab/Weim mix California Natural for his sensitive stomach and he's been doing fantastic with it and his food allergies are under control. Hope that helps!
