We are getting our Bullmastiff Puppy the end of this month and I don't like the food the breeder is feeding him. Since he'll only be 8 weeks old when we get him and he has to take an 8 hour plane ride to get here which I"m sure will be stressful enough, when would you recommend switching food. They are putting the pups on Purina puppy chow and I really want him off that as soon as possible. I want to switch him to either Nutro Small Bites puppy food or Solid Gold Wolf Cub Puppy both of which are within the guidelines for proper Protein and Fat intake for the breed. So when could I start the switch?

I'd personally give him about a week. That will give him time to settle in and let you make sure everything is in order.

Out of the two foods you listed, I'd switch to Solid Gold. However, it was my understanding the large breed puppies should eat large breed adult dog food to help slow down growth and avoid stress on their joints? Sentry could probably tell you more about that.

Thanks! I will make sure that Mater is on a Large Breed puppy food. And yes I'd love to hear Sentry's opinion on the food since she also has a Bullmastiff!
