Chicken Soup vs Wellness
These are the easiest to obtain foods that meet my requirements ie No Soy, Corn, or Wheat. Primarily Animal Protein Sources.
Given a Choice of Wellness Super5 Chicken at $1.22 lb or Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers Soul at $0.80 lb which would you go for? Is Super5 worth 53% more than Chicken Soup? This is the large 30 lb vs 35 lb bags. The comparison only gets worse in 5 lb vs 6 lb bags (61% Higher). The following is perhaps an oversimplification and to big an assumption: Chicken Soup should require 3.5% less food by weight based on calorie content (More feedings per bag). However by volume you will be feeding 21% more since it is less dense (more waste). I am just having a hard time justifying the price difference. Gene Edit: I just noticed someone else asked the same question 2 weeks ago, but since they didnt get a response... |

wellness measures in 4 oz cups instead of the standard 8 oz i think. i'd check on that to make sure. i think both are reasonably good foods and whichever works best for your dog would be the way to go. start with the chicken soup and if your dog doesn't do as well as you hope on it, switch?
personally i've never used wellness. one of my dogs eats canidae which is about $20/20 lbs and he does very well on it. the other eats innova evo which is ridiculously expensive but it's cleared up a lot of problems that she had on other foods. |

I have no experience with chicken soup, but I have tried out Wellness and know many people who have had much success with Wellness. Compare ingredients between the two and decide which is best for your dog. A kibble I would also suggest is Canidae. It is very reasonably priced and an excellent kibble.
I feed Solid Gold Wolf King. Solid Gold also makes many other varieties of kibble that are excellent. I use Wolf King because it uses uncommon meats, and I suspect my dog has an allergy to Lamb. |
