natural choice dog food

is that a good dog food because the people at petsmart say it very good for the skin and you don't need to feed them alot of it.

Hi Neko,

The Nutro Natural Choice is a good choice because it eliminates the "big 4"- the gluten grains (wheat, barley, rye), casein (from cow milk/dairy products), soy, and corn. Then all you have to be concerned about is whether your pet has developed a secondary allergy to lamb, rice, or eggs.

The PRIMARY food allergens are the ones listed above as the "big 4"because these actually damage the villi of the intestinal tract and evoke the immune response to the food at the same time. The secondary allergens are anything that the immune system reacts to as it passes through the gut that has been damaged by the primary 4. This is part of what is called "the leaky gut syndrome" and is a major part of my own medical condition of celiac disease (gluten intolerance). This is why the human childhood allergens are cow milk, wheat, soy and corn (in order) but te adulthood allergens are thinsg like shellfish, tree nuts, tropical fruits, peanuts, tomatoes, etc.

Keep your eye on the forum for the next week or so. I will be writing a good bit on this very subject.

John

Actually, it is "written"...all in my head. Just put in a quarter and it all comes pouring out.

But seriously, I am working on it. I have had to take some time to prepare for some lectures I am giving. When they are done, I will be concentrating again on the book. It will be based on my main paper...The Answer...on my site. It seems that I cannot start talking about pet health without getting into human health. We are very much the same.

In fact, I tell people all the time "The only difference between dogs and people is what is between their ears and....sometimes that difference is VERY small."
